To create my magazine cover for the film I must first decide on a font type to use for it. I have selected three I found suitable which you can vote for on the poll to the right.
Redrum
Knife Fight Ballet
Necrotype
After collecting the data from my poll I have decided to follow the audience's opinions and I am going with the magazine name 'Eclipse' and using the font 'Knife Fight Ballet'. I agree with this decision as I think both the name 'Eclipse' and the font 'Knife Fight Ballet' are the most professional looking choices out of my options.

Process
To start with I took a main image of myself and changed the colour to black and white to follow horror conventions. I then put my masthead 'Eclipse' in a large red font behind the main image to follow the conventions of magazines as it conveys the idea my magazine is popular enough to be able to conceal the masthead slightly. I also created a puff to go on the left side of the magazine as they are also quite commonly found on magazine covers. Adding the strapline at the top of the magazine was also effective to me as it created a more professional look for the magazine. The date and price placed under the magazine in a small font also followed conventions as typically they are 'hidden' from the viewer so that they are not put off by the price. The main cover line was placed towards the bottom of the cover so that it was centralised and is one of the first things the viewer looks at when picking up the magazine. The addition of adding more film names at the bottom of the cover was also effective as it attracts more viewers that may be interested in these films instead of the main cover film.
I then added a smoky background for the bottom half of the magazine and smudged myself into the smoke to create a cool effect for the magazine, which in turn led me to change the font at the bottom of the cover to white so that it could be read on the smoke. I also added additional cover lines to continue to improve the realism of my magazine as cover lines are used to continue to grab the reader's attention.
After that I decided to add a brick wall background to the magazine so that it completed the background image of the magazine. Because of this however I had to change the colour of some of the text such as the cover lines and strapline to red so that it could be read easier against the brick background.
Looking back at the magazine I decided that there was too much red, which was making some of the text hard to read so I changed the strapline and date to white and the cover lines to black so that they could be read easier.
I then added a stroke onto the effects of the text so that there was a small black outline on the white text, making it easier to read overall. Changing the bottom text from red to white so that it was easier to read was also a good decision as it made it easier to read. I then added a white glow onto the black cover lines so that they were also easier to read, improving the overall quality of my magazine.
Finally I implemented a couple more cover lines onto the side of the cover so that it gave the cover a more realistic feeling to it.
